Recently I had the opportunity to view Christopher Bramhams' work. Paintings made in the 1990s after an intense decade when Lucian Freud had mentored the young artist. From mentee to master, Bramham emerged from the older artists gentle guidance to produce canvases of staggering aplomb. His views from his flat in Richmond across the back of the Georgian terrace are rus in urbe masterpieces.

Aurulum is the name under which we operate today. It covers the art activities of Montpelier Studio, London, Robert Sandelson, Cork Street and Narborough, Norfolk and is now based in Holland Park. Aurulum is the title of a painting by Bridget Riley that we bought in 1999 during the first full year of the gallery Joanne Merrison and I founded in Cork Street.

Recently we have highlighted the work of Gillian Ayres (1930-2018) who, over a long career, was so accomplished and ambitious. Like Riley in the1990s,  Ayres, we feel, has been overlooked and we are confident that this is only temporary. She has a show opening at The Box in Plymouth this week.
